Sturdy enough to sail through the harsh oceans, yet relishing the gentle rocking motion of the seas.
The sturdiness of the swing bench during motion or standstill was a significant design consideration. Therefore all components and joinery were deliberately excessive with regard to strength and stability.
Softening the Edges
The queue that this piece would attract is imminent.. Therefore safety becomes a concern especially when the bench would be in motion frequently. Despite the hardiness of the bench, all of its edges have been softened with a round over that is both pleasing to the eyes and the touch.
Woven, not fastened.
Contrary to mass-produced furnishings where components are fastened to each other by hardware, the Swingphony bench was built in a more organic fashion. Using time-tested traditional joinery techniques, the timbers are woven together to guarantee an ever-lasting and aesthetic build
